At a time when the Telugu film industry was steadily expanding, the need for proper recognition, professional dignity, and collective strength for creative technicians working behind the scenes became increasingly important. With this vision, the Andhra Pradesh Cine Art Director & Assistants Union was established, marking a significant milestone in the history of the Telugu film industry.

Senior art directors and their assistants recognized the necessity of a unified platform to address professional challenges, safeguard rights, and create better working opportunities within the industry. The formation of the union aimed to foster unity, security, and professional respect for art directors and their assistants across Andhra Pradesh.

Following its formation, the first-ever elections of the union were conducted during the years 1993–1994. These elections became a landmark event that helped shape the future direction of the organization. With the confidence and support of the members, a committed leadership team was elected to lay a strong and lasting foundation for the union.

In these inaugural elections, Mr. K. Ramalingeshwara Rao was elected as President,Mr. K. Ramachandra Rao as General Secretary, and

Mr. K. Subbarao as Treasurer.

As President, Mr. K. Ramalingeshwara Rao provided visionary leadership and clear direction to the union. He played a key role in bringing the professional concerns of art directors and assistants to the notice of film industry authorities and in striving to ensure fair opportunities and respect for all members.

As General Secretary, Mr. K. Ramachandra Rao efficiently handled the administrative responsibilities of the union. His dedication to organizing meetings, executing decisions, maintaining coordination among members, and strengthening the organizational framework significantly contributed to the union’s growth.

As Treasurer, Mr. K. Subbarao managed the union’s finances with integrity, transparency, and discipline. His responsible financial administration helped establish stability and reinforced the trust of the members in the newly formed union.

The policies, decisions, and initiatives undertaken by the first executive body during 1993–1994 became the cornerstone for the long-term progress of the Andhra Pradesh Cine Art Director & Assistants Union. The contributions of this inaugural leadership in elevating the professional status and recognition of art directors and assistants remain memorable and continue to guide the union even today.
